Pop-UP Hawaiian Restaurant


In celebration of the 2017 Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, Executive Chef Casey Halpern is preparing some of Hawaiiʻs favorites in the breeze-way of the historic S. Hata Building on Friday, April 21st, 2017 from 11AM – PAU! Itʻs a pop-up style restaurant weʻre calling “Ka Piko” – offering take-out Hawaiian food in the Downtown Hilo area! 

Hereʻs a look at some of the Hawaiian style foods we plan on offering using specifically sourced LOCAL vendors, like Waipiʻo Poi and Kulana Fresh Foods:

Lau Lau, Kalua Pork, luau leaf, ahi poke, lomi salmon, tako poke, steamed sweet potato, rice or poi, fresh pineapple, haupia


  • Lau Lau- lomi salmon, poi, and rice
  • Luau Leaf-Lomi salmon, tako poke, poi, rice (available as a vegetarian option)
  • Poke Bowl-your choice of poke with rice and heart of palm Kim Chee


  • Chocolate Poi Cookies
  • Haupia
  • Pineapple upside down cake

Come by and grab an ʻonolicioius plate (or two) and enjoy the Merrie Monarch festivities held throughout Hilo!
